Denali National Park really impressed me. My only complaint is that I didn't spend anywhere near long enough there. I only had one full day in the park and the best way to see it all was to take the National Park transit bus that drove all the way to the end of the park and back out. This was the only National Park that I went to that had made a huge commitment to conservation by restricting private vehicles from the majority of the park. Instead they provided these buses to get you to your destinations throughout the park.
The journey to the end of the park and back takes over 11 hours. Although it may sound like a long time, it went by in a flash for me. Denali was like an amusement park. Mountains that climbed up and up on all sides. Vast valleys that stretched for miles on end. Numerous sightings of wildlife including grizzlies and cubs. All blanketed by some lovely dark moody clouds. I was loving it. Having had a taste of Denali I know I need to return and explore the back country more in the future.
